This may be one of the more difficult things I have ever written. I have actually started and stopped writing this more times than I can count over the last eight months.
I’ve been keeping something to myself, a secret that hasn’t been widely shared.
The thing is, I don’t want to keep it a secret. It does not serve me at all to keep it to myself or my circle, quite the opposite actually.
I quit my job.
I started my own business.
Why on earth would I keep it a secret?
There are several reasons:
Fear.
Vulnerability.
Visibility.
Insecurity.
Our fears work to keep us safe…like if you were being chased by a lion…then fear would be a very logical and real response. Well, I’ve built these fears up to be lions, but in all honesty they are more like friendly little house cats. Meow. I have the let these lion-like irrational fears immobilize me.
I could likely write a novel on fear, but today’s post is not about fear, it’s about sharing openly what I’m doing now.
So, what is my business? Well, I’m so glad you asked.
I own a health and wellness business. I am a Certified Health Coach, specializing in women’s empowerment, transformation, and a healthy lifestyle. I empower women who are moving through transformational phases of life (life transitions – relationships, motherhood, loss/grief, career, etc.) to align their identities with their desires…in a healthy way. I take a holistic, whole body, mind, soul approach. It is a shift in mindset for women to think about themselves in a way they never have before and honor the feelings that arise.
My role as a coach is to help you figure out:
- who you are outside of your defined roles (mom, wife, daughter, business woman, etc.)
- what you want
- how to get what you want
For well over two decades, I’ve been passionate about nutrition, fitness, health and wellness. I thought it was too late to go after that dream…not enough time, money, etc. — the classic “excuses.” The truth is I wasn’t putting my needs/desires first. As a mom, it is natural to put others needs above your own, without thought and without question. I’ve come to realize that is detrimental to not only my health, but also to the health of those closest to me. If I don’t think of myself, then I’m doing a great disservice to my children, my husband, and ultimately, to me too.
So, I got real with myself, and started giving a voice to the whispers in my head, and the tug of my heart strings, to pursue my passions. I know this is what I am meant to do, my work in the world is to help other women find themselves, like I did, so it’s not just about having a dream life, but actually living it NOW.
The other part of my business includes my product partner, USANA Health Sciences, pharmaceutical grade nutritional supplements. The supplement industry is a billion dollar industry and there are many companies I could have aligned with, but I chose USANA for their integrity, top-rated quality, science-based products, and for their mission and vision. In part, “…love life and live it to its fullest in happiness and health.” What I didn’t expect when I partnered with USANA, has come to be what I value more than anything, and is beyond priceless — the community. There’s a lot more to say about this too, but I’ll save it for another post.
Let’s bring it back to why the hell am I telling all of this to you now. Well, for starters, I realize that I cannot do this alone. Yes, I realize I am in business by myself, but as I’ve learned, I am not in business for myself. I cannot serve the women who need my help by staying quiet on the sidelines.
I know, I know, you are all wondering what on earth this has to do with you and what kind of help I am asking you for. I’ve been lucky to have received unbelievable support from my family and friends through this transition in my life, which continues to be true, and I am undeniably grateful. I am now looking for ways that I can continue to add value to my clients, and serve them in the best way possible, and put myself out there in ways I have yet to do. I am in the process of conducting 20 – 30 minute surveys/interviews to find out about people’s health concerns, goals, motherhood, life in general, etc. This research will be hugely helpful to me and the more people I can reach, the better it will be. In exchange for everyone’s time in doing the survey, I will gift a free (45 minute) coaching session. It is important to know that the survey and the free coaching session are completely pitch-free, it is a no selling zone…unless asked, of course. 😉
Maybe you are compelled to take part in the survey, or perhaps you know someone who would either be interested, or who may benefit from a free coaching session. If so, I would be forever grateful if you could share my message.
Here is a link to my calendar to schedule the survey: melissarosenstock.acuityscheduling.com or you can e-mail me directly at [email protected].
The truth is, I’m selfish and I want to bring as many people along with me to live their best life! Will you help me?
Massive love and gratitude!
xoxo
Mel
