Oh, The Tangled Web We Weave..

I’m not talking about deception here, or really about being like me. I’m talking about the tangled web of parental control.

If you have a child, then perhaps you may know all too well the entanglement of their celebrated individualism, coupled with the struggle in how we as parents look for ways in which they don’t stray too far from the herd.

Maybe you are on the other side of it, as the child, trying to break free from your parents vision for your life or from their belief system imposed upon you.

“From the moment our children are born, we are constantly looking for ways in which they look, act, and think like us. Why? As proof they are most certainly ours? Or as a symbol that we’ve successfully recreated the best version of ourselves?”

Read the rest of my article, The Parental Looking Glass, featured today on Babymama.com.

It’s tricky. It’s sticky. It’s a struggle. It’s reality.

I would love for you to give it a read and share your thoughts with me.
