We crave connection.

We are hard-wired for it on a primal level. Everyone is seeking connection, and if they tell you they aren’t, they are lying and fooling themselves. We need to connect. However, it is all about the ways in which we connect that count.

In this day, it is too easy to connect, between texting, emails, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc., etc. That is not the connection I am talking about, because that is a very disconnected way of connecting. I am referring to real, live, human connection — voice to voice, or even better, in-person. What??? Yes, I know, the phone is also actually a phone too, not just a texting device.

Texts and emails can be misread, which leads to miscommunication. Tone cannot be read, it must be heard. How many arguments, disagreements, and hurt feelings, are accountable for something being misconstrued via text or email? I’m guessing more than you can count. How many opportunities have been missed because you didn’t want to pick up the phone?

I know I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know. This is not news. It is a reminder, a gentle nudge to connect in a real way. You need that. Everyone needs that. Your voice needs to be heard, as it has the power to make a difference, a HUGE difference.

Yes, even one little phone call can make a difference. It is not always about what you say, or how you say it, but that you took the time and made an effort to connect with someone.

Oh, and I am a real person that would LOVE to connect with you live. Schedule your complimentary discovery call or survey session: melissarosenstock.acuityscheduling.com, where we can chat one-on-one.

So, before you are quick to hit send on that e-mail, or rapidly fire off a text message trying to convey your emotion with an emoji, pick up the phone, speak your words, and share a laugh — connect. It may be exactly what the other person on the other end of the line needs, which has a way of giving you exactly what you need too.

Have a great, fulfilled, and connected weekend!!

xoxo

Mel
